Beverley Wedding | Laura and Ranj | By Photographer Jemma King

September 30, 2015

With each wedding I do comes new suprises and each time I capture a couples wedding I always learn a little more. This wedding was really special and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of being there. It felt a little sad to leave at the end. And I think, if I could have stayed longer with the bride and groom and their party, they would have sat me down and made sure I was looked after!

I first met Laura a few months prior to her wedding in August. We met in Routh just outside of Beverley in a local pub and we hit it off instantly. We share similar tastes (i'd like to think i'm as cool as her anyway) and that worked really well as we just 'got' each others sense of what makes a good photograph.

Although Laura was really keen to let me have directive control of her wedding day photgraphs, she was really keen to share her ideas board through Pinterest and brought me a huge list of ideas too. I like that!

Laura was born and bred in Beverley and although she has moved down south to be with her husband, it's clear that Beverley holds such a strong connection with Laura, so much so that the couple decided to marry here! Laura wanted Beverley to feature lots in the photographs and gave me some locations she wanted to have photos taken. The only thing we needed to pray for was the weather... and we got another perfect day! I am blessed...

The day itself was glorious, I met Laura for her bridal preparations at her mums house in the heart of Beverley. Laura was lucky to have a best friend who is a make up artist. This was lovely to document as Laura's best friend lives in Greece and came over especially to be there for her big day. Laura's family were also on hand to help out with the preparations including Laura's sister who had only just given birth a couple of weeks earlier. Baby was being passed around for cuddles and the house was full of laughter and love that morning.

The flowers were by Glenholme florist in Beverley and were gorgeously bright with a variety of colours all perfectly put together in the cutest vintage style bouquet. They were perfect for Laura and matched the amazing dye to order shoes which were ordered from The Rainbow Club. Lauras tea length dress was from Jaquelines Bridal Boutique in Beverley and was altered to size to give a really vintage feel. The bride just looked amzing from head to toe!

At this point I hadn't met Ranj, Laura's husband to be so was really excited to get down to Bevereley Registry Office to check out his outfit, which I believe was chosen in a laid back manor only a week or so before the big day. I have to say, I wasn't sure what to expect! I was relieved when I saw how dapper Ranj looked; how do men manage to do that? So cool without even trying. Ranj wore a beautifully tailored navy suit, with matching green tie and socks and some fab tan brogues; this guy's got style. It all clicked what Laura had said at our first meeting. He's just Ranj, there is no one quite like him.

The wedding was a beautiful ceremony. Two cultures came together for two very special people and that was amazing to capture and I will remember it for a long time.

We then headed out onto the streets of Beverley on foot; the whole party. Through saturday market and out to the bandstand for some fun group shots including Ranj and Laura's dog, Bigsy. After that on to Rose and Crown for speeches, cupcakes and drinks and then we hopped (literally) across the road to Whites Restaurant where the couple entertained guests until sundown over a beautiful secret menu created by Whites for the party.

Thanks for being such a great couple and once again congratulations on your marriage! xx
