East Yorkshire | Location Photography Session | Blossom | Madeline

May 12, 2016

Coming back to the UK last week I aren't sure what surprised me more, the weather in Yorkshire (which was warmer than Lanzarote) or the way everything seemed to be in bloom. I was only away for a week.. how quick the blossom and rapeseed can pop up. And I guess the flip side is that the blossom is already falling into my garden so it will be gone in the blink of an eye too.

I had an idea of a really beautiful session in mind and the I was so lucky to stumble upon the most amazing tree in bloom, flourishing with pastel pink blossom and completely unspoilt. Thankfully I had a perfect model for the day, Madeline, who looked lovely in Denim and Pink. When I am shooting with clients (children especially) I want them to feel relaxed and comfortable with me, so I will give them a task or something to take their mind off having their pictures taken. It really makes for a more relaxed photo session when things aren't awkward (or too posed). I love that Madeline (who is my niece) totally took on board everything I said and she's one of those girls that can't take a bad picture - I didn't reject a single frame which is great but makes picking a collection even harder as there were so many photographs to choose from. When I edit, I like to keep everything in colour with a few black and white images thrown in but for this selection I really like it all in colour... I just wish the blossom would remain as I would use this backdrop a thousand times over...
